Weekend Happenings

This has been a busy weekend for us. Thursday night, I met J. in Arlington for Happy Hour with some of his co-workers. It took me forever and a day to get there because of traffic on 495 over the American Legion Bridge. I thought traffic was supposed to be lighter in the summertime; I know, I know - it's the construction issues with the Wilson Bridge. Thank God for audiobooks. We went to a restaurant in Clarendon called SoBe Seafood; Clarendon has really become a happenin' place with lots of restaurants, cafes, and bars. We'll definitely have to go back, but maybe this time on a weekend without rush hour traffic.

On Friday night, we had a sort of mini CUA reunion at Mon Ami Gabi, a French restaurant, in Bethesda. My college roommate and several other friends are in town this weekend. So fun, to laugh and remember old times. Everyone lives in such different places now, but it's always good times together with old friends. I cannot believe that J. and I graduated from CUA 9 years ago!

Now on to madness. We were on the tennis courts at 6:45 am on Saturday!!! We decided to play doubles with some people from our class. They had played the previous weekend that early and said how energizing it was to get out there before it got too hot and then have the day ahead of you. I wasn't so sure about that, but I figured what the heck, let's try it once. Sure enough, they were right. We got so much done yesterday (and early too). One of the gals has been playing longer than J. and me (we only started this spring) so playing with her, IMO, has been helping us improve our game. We later went to Dick's Sporting Goods and bought our very own tennis ball hopper. Easier to collect all of those stray balls.

Sunday it was back together with the CUA pals. We met at Caribou Coffee and then drove B. to Dulles to catch her flight home. Downtown Silver Spring has truly been "revitalized," like all of the ads say. I can't believe that we used to live there (this was pre-revitalization, of course).
