Ribbed Sampler Scarf

This pink scarf is the ribbed sampler scarf from Claire Crompton's The Knitter's Bible. There are 6 different types of ribs repeated throughout the scarf. It was good practice for counting my purl and knit stitches and for learning how to tell the difference between the two stitches on the needle. I love how different each ribbed pattern looks, and it hs a really nice texture. Pink is one of my favorite colors. This was my first scarf made post garter and stockinette stitch scarves. This yarn is Araucania Nature Wool Chunky. Next to the sampler scarf is a charcoal gray garter stitch scarf that I made for J in a bulky yarn.

I found The Knitter's Bible to be pretty useful, particularly the clear photos of the different types of stitch patterns. It's a good reference book for learning new stitches. This was one of the first books I borrowed from work (I work at the library) to read more about learning to knit, and the sampler scarf was actually the first real pattern that I followed on my own.
